The Laboratory CBR (California Bearing Ratio) Test Apparatus is used to measure the bearing capacity of soil for pavement design and road construction. It consists of a loading piston, a cylindrical mold, a penetration device, and a dial gauge to measure the depth of penetration under standard loading conditions. The soil sample is compacted in the mold, and a load is applied to the piston while measuring penetration. The results are used to calculate the CBR value, which helps assess the suitability of soil for construction projects, particularly in designing road subgrades.
